OUR STORY
The world is full of historical objects and patterns that never fail to inspire our work. If a piece comes out of its etching bath looking like it could be a forgotten treasure dug out of the ground, we know we’re onto something!
PATTERNS FROM SUTTON HOO
The garnet and gold creations discovered at Sutton Hoo are some of the most awe-inspiring objects of the historical world.
Rather than attempt to replicate such masterpieces, this collection uses both pattern and linework to create unique items in etched copper with a charm all of their own.
ANGLO-SAXON PLANT MOTIFS
Natural patterns adorn both metalwork and manuscripts throughout history. This series of Anglo-Saxon plant motifs include designs from the Abingdon Sword (found in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford) and the famous Fuller Brooch (in the British Museum.) The patterns are irresistible, drawing the eye and leading you back into a forgotten world, even if you don’t always know quite what you are looking at!
ROMAN ‘SHIELD’ COLLECTION
One of our most accessible designs, the Roman ‘Shield’ Collection grew out of exploring some of the Anglo-saxon plant motifs which used a similar shape. This collection now includes an ancient triskele, celtic knots, medieval tile patterns and even a snake!
